International master’s students visit Rauma-region

Turku School of Economics has several international master’s degree programmes. GIM’s major is international business and FUTU’s major is future studies, which is very unique in the world. Information systems science has joint degree programmes IMMIT and GITM. Students from these programmes visited Rauma region on February 2nd.

The morning was spent getting to know the Olkiluoto nuclear power plants. Veli-Pekka Nurmi provided us with an excellent insight into the electronic world. I recommend everyone a visit to the Olkiluoto Visitcenter: open every day from 10 am to 8 pm.

The lunch we had on a seminary hill at the Rauma campus of the University of Turku. The lunch was delicious and the seminar hill cozy.

Then we continue with integral tour around the world's most modern sawmill and pulp. The tour at Metsä Group's Rauma sawmill and pulp mill was enlightening. Finland lives from the forest. It is amazing how much information technology is used in wood processing and logistics.

Last, but not least, we visited Laitila Wirvoitusjuomatehdas Oy. Friday is a maintenance day, so the silence at the factory didn't hurt. It is amazing how a small dream grows up.

Thank you for everyone who made an interesting visit possible.
