Open call for a travel grant for PhD students from IIT Delhi for visiting UTU (application period from 27 March to 9 April 2026)

The Digital Manufacturing and Surface Engineering (DMS) research group at the University of Turku invites travel grant applications from motivated PhD students at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) for a short-term (23 days) international mobility opportunity at the University of Turku
This mobility is organized within the Team Finland Knowledge (TFK) project – SUMAN, focusing on Sustainable Advanced Digital Manufacturing (SADM).
Mobility Details
- Host institution: University of Turku, Finland
- Duration: 06th July – 28th July 2026 (23 days)
- Number of grants awarded: one travel grant (2630 eur)
Activities
The selected student will:
- Network with students and researchers at UTU Finland, one of Finland’s premier engineering institutions and among the top-ranked engineering institutes in the country
- Participate in joint research activities in the field of advanced manufacturing, surface technologies and surface characterization
- Be encouraged to participate in courses, seminars, and webinars during the stay at UTU Finland
- Gain exposure to international research environments and industrial collaborations
Financial Support
The mobility will be supported by the TFK SUMAN project. The maximum amount of granted support is 2630 eur. The grant covers travel and accommodation expenses.
Eligibility
Applicants should:
- Be a full-time PhD student enrolled at the IIT Delhi and have completed at least three years
- Be studying in Mechanical Engineering / Production/Manufacturing Engineering
- Be interested in learning about advanced manufacturing, surface technologies, surface characterization and participating in research activities related to this topic
