Pest control for gray silverfish ongoing at Turku University Library
The Turku University Library is currently undergoing pest control measures to prevent the spread of gray silverfish. The extermination is harmless to humans and the Library continues to operate as normal.
Gray silverfish have been detected at the Turku University Library and pest control measures are underway. Gray silverfish that eat paper and cardboard are an increasingly common pest species, as they are easily moved from one place to another, for example, in cardboard boxes. By exterminating gray silverfish, the Library's strives to protect its collections and prevent the spread of the insects.
Pest control is ongoing in the Feeniks Library, the Library's storage in the Aurum building, and the Newspaper and Ephemera Services in Raisio.
The Library constantly monitors the gray silverfish situation and will take new measures if necessary. The extermination is harmless to humans and the Library continues to operate as normal.
