University’s Advisory Board assembled with a new composition

The Advisory Board of the University of Turku is a strategic sparring partner of the University management. The aim of the collaboration is to promote the common goals of the University and its stakeholders, to support dialogue, and to strengthen the impact of the University's activities.

The University’s Advisory Board met for the first time in its current composition on 4 June 2025. The term of the Advisory Boar started on 15 April 2025 and ends on 30 June 2029.

Mayor of Pori Lauri Inna, Chair of the Advisory Board, said at the opening of the first meeting that the most important task of the Advisory Board is to exchange ideas with the University management in developing the University and strengthening its independent role.

“The Advisory Board has achieved its objectives when the University management feels that the discussions add value to their leadership," Inna said.

“The main task of the new Advisory Board is to guide the University of Turku in the challenges of the near future and to support us as we consider as part of our strategy work what kind of a university we want steer into the 2030s," states Rector of the University of Turku Marjo Kaartinen.

The composition of the Advisory Board for the term 2025–2029 is:

  • Lauri Inna, Mayor, City of Pori, Chair of the Advisory Board
  • Suvi Innilä, Project Manager, City of Turku
  • Kristiina Kukkohovi, CEO, Visit Turku Archipelago
  • Kaisa Leiwo, CEO, Turku Chamber of Commerce, Vice Chair of the Advisory Board
  • Lasse Miettinen, Director, Sitra
  • Esko Poikela, Mayor, City of Rauma
  • Ville Valkonen, Member of Parliament; Chair of the Managing Board of the Regional Council

The coordinators of the Advisory Board are Communications Director Anne Paasi and Development Specialist Laura Kopu. The Advisory Board meets three times a year.
