Biography
I completed my Bachelor's and Master's degrees at Tampere University of Technology in Finland. I obtained my doctoral degree in Biomedical Engineering from Tampere University, Finland, in March 2022. Then I moved to USA and conducted my postdoctoral research at Cornell University from 2022 to 2024, supported by the Nokia Foundation, Emil Aaltonen Foundation, and Tampere Institute for Advanced Study. Since May 2025, I have been an Assistant Professor of Industrial Automation in the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at the University of Turku.
Teaching
I teach the following courses:
KTEK0051 Hydrauliikka ja pneumatiikka
ATEK0010 Sensors and Actuators
Research
The research in our group combines soft robotics, stretchable electronics, and bioinspired design to develop intelligent, adaptive robotic systems. We focus on materials and technologies that are flexible, responsive, and suitable for safe interaction with humans and complex environments.
The group’s work spans multiple areas, including high-speed stretchable sensing, variable stiffness actuation, and bioinspired structures. We explore new fabrication methods for soft and stretchable components and combine them with real-time feedback to create closed-loop robotic platforms. Applications include soft grippers, sensing surfaces, and robotic tools for biomedical and industrial contexts.
