Biography

In my work, I interrogate geographies and temporalities of citizenship, refugeehood and undocumentedness and I pursue activist research methodologies.

Currently, I am finalising my PhD in human geography at the University of Turku, Finland, while working as project researcher in the project "Endings - refuge, time, and space" at the Migration Institute of Finland (funding: KONE Foundation; https://siirtolaisuusinstituutti.fi/en/person/camilla-marucco-al-mimar/).

Together with Leonardo Custódio, I am co-coordinator of the Activist Research Network (https://mailman.abo.fi/mailman/listinfo/activist-research-network). I volunteer for the We See You association (https://www.facebook.com/weseeyoucampaign) and for the project Every Woman's Centre (https://www.facebook.com/kaikkiennaistentalo), both working for fairer immigration policies in Finland. I am currently chairperson of ETMU, the Society for the study of ethnic relations and international migration (etmu.fi).

Teaching

I coordinate the course "Racism, Border and Gender" at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Turku (2020-ongoing, https://opas.peppi.utu.fi/fi/opintojakso/XSTL9021/23266?period=2022-2024).
