Areas of expertise
I completed my MA at the University of Tampere (1994) and did my PhD at the University of Turku (2006). My doctoral dissertation explores employment and incomes of lone mothers in different welfare states. I have worked as a post-doctoral fellow project funded by the Academy of Finland (2009-2011). The project focused on child maintenance policies and child poverty. I have been involved in two projects investigating economic inequality and poverty in childhood. I worked as Academy Research Fellow in project focusing on complex families and child support policy (2016-2021). Currently, I work as Sr. Research Fellow in Invest Flagship. I am a PI of two projects: Economic consequences of shared care (EconShared) funded by Academy of Finland and Financial Social Work among families with children(TalSos) funded by Minsitry of Social Affairs. I have been a visiting scholar at the Norwegian Social Research Center, Social Policy Research Center (SPRU) at the University of York (UK), Rutgers University (USA), University of Wisconsin, Madison (USA) and as Endeavour Scholar in RMIT University, Melbourne (Australia).
My reserach focuses on family policies, child poverty, single parenthood, shared care and child support policies from the comparative perspective.
