I’m currently working as a senior research fellow at the INVEST flagship, sociology unit. In addition, I work as PI of the project "The social mechanisms behind the economic consequences of physical appearance, SOMA" funded by the Academy of Finland. During 2016-2018 I led research project “Finland as an appearance society” funded by Emil Aaltonen foundation. I graduated with a master’s degree in economic sociology from the Turku School of Economics in 2007. I defended my PhD thesis on the appearance-related consumption at the University of Turku, Faculty of Social Sciences (2013).

My research interests include themes related to sociology of consumption and physical appearance. My current research topics include physical appearance as a form of capital and social norms related to it.
