Meet Enrique Romero, a current master's student at the University of Turku and an UTUambassador 2026-2027!
"I’m Enrique, a master’s student in Global Innovation Management at the Turku School of Economics, University of Turku.
I was born in Rome, raised in Denver, and have Peruvian roots, so moving between cultures and languages has always been part of my life. I did my Bachelor’s in International Business and have worked alongside my studies, which taught me a lot about teamwork and customer service.
I’m interested in how science-based products, especially in industrial biotech, make it from the lab to real markets. The GIM programme fits that well because it combines innovation management, business and international perspectives. I also like that UTU’s strengths in life sciences and business sit so close together, so you can build a path across fields rather than stay in one lane.
Outside of my studies, I’m active in the Nordic startup and deep tech scene, including volunteering, and I love meeting people from different backgrounds and connecting them."

Enrique's study experience
How is your study experience at UTU and what services/aspects have influenced that the most?
Studying at UTU has been really awesome, it's given me the flexibility needed to shape my career goals, take on group projects, and make great friends along the way. I really like that the student unions here are strong and active, and everyone's always ready to help. On top of that, the course content itself has been genuinely interesting, which makes the whole experience even better.
To whom would you recommend your programme to?
I'd recommend it to anyone willing to challenge themselves, take on new projects, step outside their comfort zone, and really go for it.
