"Hello, my name is Md Monzurul Islam Rabu, and I am studying Health Technology at the University of Turku. I was born and raised in Kushtia, a southwestern city in Bangladesh. After completing my undergraduate degree in electrical and electronic engineering, I joined a start-up company where I built functional prosthetic hands and low-cost FDM 3D printers. Then, I worked in the automation industry for five years.
During the pandemic, I was horrified to see many deaths due to an inadequate oxygen supply and a lack of mechanical ventilators. I realized that further innovation in cost-effective and easily accessible medical devices and solutions is required. Motivated by a strong ambition to contribute to the health sector, I enrolled in the master's degree programme in Health Technology at the University of Turku.
I chose the University of Turku as my place of study because it emphasizes creative problem-solving abilities and high standards for research, and it is ranked among the top 1% of institutions worldwide. The University of Turku has a diverse community with different perspectives, backgrounds, and personalities. The best aspect of the university is its diverse culture, which allows me to learn something new every moment.
The city of Turku has many priceless resources, such as the finest air, purest water, surrounding forests, beautiful lakes, the riverside of the Aura, etc. When you start to live in this city, you will be enchanted by its calm and pristine nature.

Monzurul's study experience
After completing my master's degree in Health Technology, I want to work in a medical device manufacturing company as a research and development engineer. This master's degree program will allow me to increase my skills in technical writing, health data analysis, machine learning, and AI. While studying, I want to publish papers in high-quality journals which will be a step forward toward achieving my career goal.
With internationally renowned faculty members and state-of-the-art laboratories, the University of Turku has established itself as one of the most illustrious research institutions in the world. Obtaining a master's degree from this university will provide me with countless opportunities to succeed in my professional life.
I will recommend all prospective students to apply for admission to the MDP in Health Technology who have some level of interest in utilising technology to enhance healthcare. Specifically those who want to launch health tech startups should enroll in the programme.
