Studying at the Department of Media Studies

Media Studies provides student with tools for understanding and analyzing media culture as historical, technological, social and aesthetic phenomena. Studies within the department help to develop both diverse writing skills and project management skills.

Media Studies, Musicology and Art History have joint basic studies, after which students choose their major subject. Both BA and MA studies include a range of optional courses allowing for specialization in terms of research themes, materials and phenomena. Special courses vary annually. In addition to seminars, compulsory courses consist of methodology and theory studies. Classes are conducted primarily as contact teaching and multiform learning: as seminars, lectures and workshops making use of online learning platforms.

Media Studies has inter-institutional Erasmus agreements with Alpen-Adria -Universität Klagenfurt, Université de Liège, Université Catholique de Louvain and Coventry University.
