Product development and design
Modelling and development of resources, design theory and algorithmic-aided design.
Prof. Jussi Kantola researches modelling and development of resources (e.g. competence), fuzzy systems, innovation management and design theory.
University lecturer Asim Rashid's research focuses on algorithmic-aided design. Algorithmic-aided design represents a shift from "drawing" a shape to "programming" a set of rules that generates it. In traditional CAD, one uses a computer mouse to manually place lines and surfaces. In algorithmic-aided design, one builds a script (the algorithm) that defines how the model should behave. This allows for levels of complexity and optimization that would be impossible to achieve using traditional CAD.
