The University of Turku warmly welcomes the members of the partner universities to UTU!
What is Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility?
Under the International Credit Mobility (ICM), a higher education institution in a partner country (partners outside EU) can send its staff members or PhD students to a partner institution in a programme country (EU countries like Finland), and vice versa.
A staff member can spend a teaching or training period of 5 to 60 days at the University of Turku. The durations of staff exchanges vary depending on the grants awarded by the European Commission in the project.
Please contact erasmusicm@utu.fi for more information on ongoing projects and inquiries on future collaborations within Erasmus+ ICM projects.
Conditions for Erasmus+ ICM Mobilities
A minimum of 8 hours of teaching per week has to be respected. For a mobility period exceeding a full week, the minimum number of teaching hours per extra day is calculated: 8 hours divided by 5, multiplied by the number of extra days.
Staff mobility for teaching can be in any subject area/academic discipline and in any level (bachelor, master, PhD). However, it should be part of the regular curriculum. It can also include supervising of a thesis, small group seminars or workshops.
The mobility type aims to the professional development of the teaching and non-teaching staff member in the form of training events (excluding conferences), job shadowing and observation periods, and training at the University of Turku.
Also PhD students can take part in a training mobility.
The participants selected for Erasmus+ ICM staff exchange are entitled to the Erasmus+ scholarship (daily allowance + travel grant).
- 180 € per days 1–14
- 126 € per days 15–60
Travel grants for each participant are defined according to the distance between the partner universities.
- between 500–1999 km: 275 € / mobility
- between 2000–2999 km: 360 € / mobility
- between 3000–3999 km: 530 € / mobility
- between 4000–7999 km: 820 € / mobility
- more than 8000 km: 1500 € / mobility
The grant is paid to the participant's bank account once all the required documents are ready. Usually the grant is paid during the visit, but It can also be paid before it, as long as the application and the enclosures are submitted at least 6 weeks before the hoped-for payment date.
The University of Turku pays for the transaction fees, excluding e.g. possible currency exchange fees charged by the participant's own bank. The payment is made in euros.
