Prof. Roberta Croce, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Netherlands
Breaking the red limit: driving oxygenic photosynthesis with far-red light
Host: Yagut Allahverdiyeva-Rinne (allahve@utu.fi)
Coffee and sandwich at 11:45, first come first served!

Six students and early-career postdocs are welcome to have a lunch in restaurant Mauno and discuss with Prof. Croce after the seminar. This is a great possibility to learn hosting skills in friendly environment and create connections for future. Every student is welcome to join, in spite of which research group they belong to. BioCity Turku will offer the lunch.
If you got interested, please send an email to biocityturku@bioscience.fi

Roberta Croce and her lab are aiming to understand the molecular bases of the light reactions of photosynthesis to extract the building principles of the light to energy conversion machinery and to use them to improve photosynthesis efficiency and guide the design of artificial systems. They analyze the photosynthetic apparatus at different levels of complexity from a single molecule to the whole organism, which can be a bacterial photosynthetic cell or a plant. They exploit a large number of techniques varying from ultrafast spectroscopies, plant physiology, biochemistry, and molecular biology. These experimental approaches are integrated with theoretical modeling and molecular dynamics simulations.
