Associate Professor Maija Renko visited Entrepreneurship Unit

27.05.2014

Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship Maija Renko from University of Illinois at Chicago (USA) gave a presentation of improving research skills and how to conquer the review process in Entrepreneurship unit's research seminar in May.

Her invigorating talk focused on one of her recent papers, “Early challenges of nascent social entrepreneurs” (Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, 37 (5), 1045 - 1069).  In her presentation Renko visualized how the paper was transformed during the review process. During the process she had to face different kinds of questions, of which two had a huge impact on the paper. The paper was reframed, and accordingly the theoretical model and its empirical testing were reconstructed. She concluded her presentation with encouraging words about academic publishing, and concluded that even if the process can be demanding, the outcome is usually clearly an improved version of the original research paper.
