Dangerous Situation Was Suspected on Turku Campus

According to the release by the Southwestern Finland Police Department, the man had not threathened anyone with the knife. According to the release, he had run with a knife in his hand from the campus area towards Koskenniemenkatu. The man was youngish and Caucasian. The emergency response centre received one call about the man's actions, after which no other sightings of the man were made.

The police was contacted about the matter immediately, and the safety protocols were initiated at the University. Electronic locks in some of the buildings were temporarily locked by the request of the police. The situation was reported in the University’s internal and external communication channels according to the safety instructions.
