Eduten Playground developed at the University of Turku is a learning platform where educators share and further develop teaching materials. The platform offers a possibility for students to do tasks and exercises at their own pace regardless of the location and provides a wide range of learning analytics methods for educators.

Eduten Playground is a digital learning platform that offers new solutions and practices for teaching and learning. The platform is based on the ViLLE learning platform that has been developed for over 10 years in the Computer Science Education Research group focused on didactic technology which operates in the Department of Futures Technologies of the Faculty of Science and Engineering at the University of Turku.

The platform is based on scientific research and has been built in collaboration with hundreds of Finnish teachers. The platform utilises artificial intelligence and gamification.

The learning platform is available worldwide as a cloud service that contains over 15,000 mathematical tasks and exercises. The exercises have been created in collaboration with Finnish teachers and they are directed at all comprehensive school pupils.

– The system is very scalable as a transnational education product. The sales have begun and there is interest towards the system in many countries, says Henri Muurimaa, the CEO of Eduten.

The ViLLE system, on which the Eduten Playground platform is based, is currently used in every fifth school in Finland and has over 120,000 users. Its functionality has been proven not only in practice, but also in dozens of peer-reviewed research articles over the years.

– The University of Turku is a pioneer in learning analytics. It is extremely great to see that our research creates commercial innovations, says Rector Kalervo Väänänen of the University of Turku.
