Eurostat – Statistics and Data on Europe

24.04.2023

Are you interested to know in which European countries the recycling rate of plastic packages is highest? Or would you like to know which EU-country has the highest unemployment rate? What about the information on how many refugees arrived in Finland in 2018? What is Europe's inflation stat?

Eurostat is the statistical office of the European Union situated in Luxembourg. The main role is to process and publish comparable statistical information at European level. Eurostat does not collect data. This is done in Member States by their statistical authorities. You find data for the EU, EU member states and the euro area. There is also data on candidate states and EFTA countries (Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein).

The statistics are freely available and updated twice a day. Some information from some countries might be lacking. This is the case if the country doesn’t gather information, the country gathers information slower than others or if the quality of the information is not good enough for statistics.

You can browse statistics for example by 9 themes:

  • General and regional statistics
  • Economy and finance
  • Population and social conditions
  • Industry, trade and services
  • Agriculture and fisheries
  • International trade
  • Transport
  • Environment and energy
  • Science, technology, digital society

In addition to statistics, you can also find for example Economic forecasts, Euro indicators and Eurobarometer surveys.

Eurostat is freely available: https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/
