This year marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Volter Kilpi, the first chief librarian of Turku University Library. In honor of the anniversary, the University of Turku Library is presenting exhibitions on Volter Kilpi, Kilpi's work and the era in which Kilpi lived. 

Electronic resources and use of artificial intelligence tools

The European Commission has published guidelines on the responsible use of artificial intelligence in research. University of Turku policy on AI as part of the research encourages the use of AI applications in both research and related processes. Agreements for licensed resources acquired by the library have also gradually begun to include AI clauses, which impose their own restrictions on the use of AI tools.

New open access publishing agreements for medicine

The library has signed two new open access publishing agreements for the University of Turku with publishers of medical journals. In addition, the agreement from last year with the Radiological Society of North America, allowing for publishing in the publisher's four journals, has been extended until the end of 2024. The agreements provide authors with the opportunity for free open access publishing. 

Artstor moves to JSTOR platform

Artstor is a database of over 2 million images from museums, archives, scholars and artists. The purpose of its use is teaching and research and it provides tools for watching, mastering and presenting images. In 2024 Artstor will move to JSTOR platform.
