Negotiations on Open Publishing Agreements Continue

05.12.2023

Negotiations between the FinELib Consortium for acquisition of e-resources and seven scientific journal publishers are still going on. Different publishers are at different stages – some progress is promising but it is still uncertain whether agreements will be concluded.

FinELib aims to agree with the publishers that access to new issues of the journals persists if the negotiations continue over the present agreement period that is to say during the year 2024. Another goal is that articles published during the early part of 2024 can be transformed into open access retrospectively if the agreement is not ready by the beginning of next year; however, this will not necessarily be possible with all agreements. Negotiations with the American Chemical Society, the Royal Society of Chemistry and IEEE are particularly incomplete.

Turku University Library will inform the university community about the progress of the negotiations and about the possible agreements as soon as there is any news.
