This is a FinEd (former KASVA) Newsletter. Monthly newsletters are sent to all subscribers of the FinEd mailing list and published on the FinEd website.

​The annual seminar of the FinEd Network “sold out”!

The annual seminar of FinEd "Transformations of the Governance of Education in Europe" on 9-10.6.2015 is now fully booked. Altogether 52 doctoral candidates from seven different Finnish universities registered for the seminar by the deadline and there are two people also on the reserve list. Many thanks for the interest! The coordinator is dividing the abstracts into small groups of the seminar and will send the participants more information about them shortly.

Upcoming conferences and seminars

Research Unit focusing on the Sociology and Politics of Education (KUPOLI), the Nordic Centre of Excellence (NCoE) Justice through Education in the Nordic Countries (JustEd), the Doctoral Programme of  School, Education, Society and Culture (SEDUCE) and the Faculty of Behavioural Sciences invites researchers, teachers and students interested in the sociological and cultural studies of education to the annual ESC conference. Abstract submission and registration April 15th – May 10th 2015.

What is going on in Higher Education Research in Finland? What is beingWhat is going on in Higher Education Research in Finland? What is being researched right now? What might the tertiary education look like in 10
years? What are, and could be, the emerging research questions and methodologies of today and tomorrow?
 
For this volume, we will be exploring the current and the future of the Finnish higher education and research on it. To be able to target the future of the field, we are asking the doctoral students doing their research on higher education in Finland to present their empirical findings, theoretical concerns and carefully argumented ideas for the wider audience, in a form of an academic article.
The recommended length of the article is 15-20 pages (max. 5000 words), and the manuscripts should be delivered to the editors of the yearbook by 15 October 2015. The tentative publication date of the yearbook is in June 2016.
