From Public Good to Private Gain – research reveals the changing role of the state in education markets through a video

Researchers at the Turku Centre for Labour Studies, Professor Anne Kovalainen and Senior Research Fellow Seppo Poutanen, have published a research article titled The state as an agency in the assetisation of knowledge: the case of the Finnish education export in the Routledge journal Learning, Media and Technology. Published in 2025, the article examines the state as an actor in education export markets, using Finnish education export as a case example. An animated video presenting the article and its key findings has been produced and is now available on the popular science communication channel Scitube.
