The University of Turku participates in the international Dare to Learn event showcasing Finnish higher education on 19–20 September (at Korjaamo in Helsinki). The Hacking Higher Education Finland competition for the higher education institutions is organised as a part of the event. All members of the university community had the chance to nominate the best innovation or development ideas in higher education.

The University’s proposal, Intoa! Lean Business Programme, is a new type of model for co-operation between companies and universities. It offers new innovations and service concepts for the companies, and an authentic business learning environment for the students. In the Programme, multidisciplinary teams consisting of students and researchers are presented with a challenge related to the partner companies’ business prospects. The Programme provides the students and researchers with an opportunity to learn in a start up environment supervised by the experts of the field with academic and business backgrounds.

The winner of the competition is selected in the Dare to Learn event on Friday, 20 September 2019 when the finalists pitch their proposals to the panel of judges. The University’s proposal will be pitched by Collaboration Manager Mikko Pohjola.

Organised already for the third time, the international Dare to Learn event – “the SLUSH of learning” – assembles together thousands of teaching experts, students, and representatives of business life. The objective of the event is to create a new type of basis for co-operation between higher education institutions and companies and to provide the participants with an opportunity to showcase their expertise in continuous learning.
