KiVa Antibullying Program to Schools in Chile

15.11.2016

The KiVa Antibullying Program will be launched in Chilean schools in 2018.

KiVa has made its 11th licensing agreement which enables the distribution of the program to Chilean schools. Santillana Chile publishing house and Finland University signed the agreement on 8 November 2016.

– With the licensing agreement, Chile will become the first country in Latin America to spread the KiVa Program in Spanish. This is a great achievement, as the greatest demand for KiVa comes from the Spanish-speaking world, says Professor Christina Salmivalli, the director of the program.

This agreement enables co-operation until the end of 2022. The KiVa Program is exported to Chilean schools both in Spanish and in English. A KiVa training will be held for the employees of the Santillana Chile in Santiago in the spring 2017, after which the employees can start training the employees of the schools. The Program is launched in the schools in March 2018 when a new school year begins.

The KiVa Antibullying Program has already previously received funding for conducting an impact study on KiVa in Chile. The study will begin in 33 Chilean schools in March 2017.

The KiVa Antibullying Program is an operational programme against bullying developed at the University of Turku. In addition to Finland and Chile, there are KiVa schools in 13 countries.
