NTU Ranking: University of Turku is Strong and Influential Research University
Taiwanese NTU Ranking has listed the best 500 science universities. The University of Turku placed 323rd in 2017. NTU Ranking compares universities by their scientific publications, using bibliometric evaluation to compare the number of publications, excellence and impact.
The University of Turku placed 323rd in the year 2017. The University was the 2nd Finnish university, after the University of Helsinki which was ranked 81st.
In comparison between different subjects, the University was ranked among the top 300 universities in 5 subjects:
- Plant and Animal Science (144th)
- Agricultural Sciences (217th)
- Clinical Medicine (234th)
- Environment and Ecology (239th)
- Biological Sciences (250th)
– The placement in the NTU Ranking means that the University of Turku is a strong and influential research university, says Vice Rector responsible for research Kalle-Antti Suominen.
In the ranking, the number of publications weighted for 25%, excellence for 40%, and impact for 35%. The ranking evaluates research universities’ academic performance and achievements in 6 different scientific fields and in 14 different subjects.
