Professor Anne Kumpula Appointed as Dean of the Faculty of Law

Rector Kalervo Väänänen of the University of Turku has appointed Professor Anne Kumpula as the Dean of the Faculty of Law.

Kumpula’s term as the Dean starts on 1 August 2018. The deans' term of office lasts as long as that of the Rector at the most.

Anne Kumpula graduated as the doctor of laws from the University of Turku in 2004. She was appointed as the Professor of Environmental Law of the University of Turku in 2005. Kumpula has been the Director of the Turku Institute for Advanced Studies (TIAS), member of the Research Council of the University of Turku, and the director of the Doctoral Programme in Law.

Professor Kumpula specialises in the relationship between the challenges of the environmental democracy and proceduralisation of environmental law.       

The current Dean of the Faculty of Law, Professor of Criminal Law Jussi Tapani, has been appointed to the Supreme Court starting on 1 August 2018, which is why his term as the Dean ends at the end of July.
