Of the Finnish universities, the University of Turku was third after the University of Helsinki and Aalto University. QS World University Ranking uses different comparison criteria in their ranking: academic reputation, employer reputation, student-to-faculty ratio, citations per faculty, international faculty ratio, and international student ratio.

The University of Turku was best ranked in the student-to-faculty ratio category. According to the QS Ranking, the international student ratio has the most room for improvement.

– We are among the best 300 universities, which is a great achievement in the continuously increasing competition between universities. Unfortunately, the funding cuts carried out in the past few years will have a negative impact on Finnish universities in the future, says Vice Rector Kalle-Antti Suominen of the University of Turku.
