QS Ranking: University of Turku among World's Top in 12 Disciplines

In the QS Ranking by subject, the University of Turku was the most successful, as a whole, in the fields of bioscience and medicine.

​In the 2017 QS World University Rankings by Subject, the University of Turku was successful in the following disciplines:

  • Nursing (41st)
  • Education (151‒200)
  • Medicine (201‒250)
  • Biological Sciences (251‒300)
  • Business & Management Studies (251‒300)
  • Law (251‒300)
  • Pharmacy & Pharmacology (251‒300)
  • Psychology (251‒300)
  • Sociology (251‒300)
  • Economics & Econometrics (301‒350)
  • Physics & Astronomy (351‒400)
  • Chemistry (451‒500)

In addition, the universities were ranked in five larger main categories, and the University of Turku was successful in four of them:

  • Life Sciences & Medicine (260th)
  • Arts & Humanities (535th)
  • Social Sciences & Management (363rd)
  • Natural Sciences (451‒500)

– The recent QS Ranking shows that the University's international visibility and reputation are on a good level and multidisciplinarity in particular is our strength as a university. International competition keeps stepping up, but we take it as a challenge and continue to develop our operations according to the University's Strategy, says Vice Rector Kalle-Antti Suominen from the University of Turku.

In the QS Ranking by subject, altogether 4,438 universities were ranked in 46 different disciplines. This QS Ranking has been annually conducted since 2011. The ranking considers academic reputation, employer reputation and effectiveness of research.
