In the latest QS Ranking of different disciplines and subjects, the University of Turku is at the top of the world-wide assessment in five different categories. In two subjects, the University of Turku is even among the 150 best universities in the world.

In the philosophy and psychology categories of the QS Ranking, the University of Turku is among the 101–150 best universities. In the categories for history and archaeology, medicine, and law and legal studies, the university was assessed to be among the 151–200.

In this year’s QS Ranking of the disciplines, the success of over three thousand universities was assessed in thirty different subjects.

According to the Rector of the University of Turku, Kalervo Väänänen, the different kinds of good assessment results reflect the high quality of education and research.

–The University of Turku is continuously rated among the best universities in the world in several rankings. All the different rankings shouldn’t be read into too carefully, but of course these recognitions are great rewards for the patient and high-quality work the members of the university community carry out every day all over the university campuses, says Väänänen.

What Väänänen considers very important is that the university is doing well in different kinds of subjects. It is a mark of a high-quality, multidisciplinary university.
