QS Ranking: University of Turku Kept Its Position among Top Universities

The University of Turku placed 234th in the worldwide QS World University Ranking published today.

​For the ranking, QS collected information from 4,322 universities and then ranked 916 of them in order. The University of Turku was ranked as 234th and was the third of the Finnish Universities in the ranking. Last year, the University of Turku was ranked as 233th.

The strengths of the University of Turku in the ranking are academic reputation and reputation among employers.

– We can be extremely pleased with the fact that in the constantly tightening competition, we have been able to keep our position among the top universities in the world. According to our new strategy, we work continuously in order to be a more and more competitive, international and effective operator, says Rector Kalervo Väänänen of the University of Turku.

QS uses six different comparison criteria in their ranking: academic reputation, employer reputation, student-to-faculty ratio, citations per faculty, international faculty ratio, and international student ratio.
