The Rectors of the universities gave their support for the organisation of the demonstration, and the students were given permission to stay over night in Aurum with the condition that the demonstration will be peaceful and will not disturb other use of the building.

With the demonstration, students opposed the Finnish Government’s planned cuts to student benefits and their immigration policy.

The management of the universities and the student unions organised several discussion sessions for the students participating in the demonstration, where issues raised by the students were discussed.
