15.05.2014

The Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) of the European Commission has renewed the university’s Diploma Supplement Label for the period of 2013–2016.

The Diploma Supplement Label was given to Head of International Affairs Irinja Paakkanen, who represented the University of Turku at the Finnish International Educator’s Days in Tampere on May 13, 2014. The Diploma Supplement Label was awarded to the university for the first time in 2006.

Diploma Supplement is a document accompanying a higher education diploma, providing a standardised description of the degree. With the Diploma Supplement Label, the EACEA aims at improving the appropriate use of the supplement in European universities. The label can be awarded to an institution of higher education that gives an appropriate Diploma Supplement to its graduates. The supplement has to be issued automatically and free of charge to all the graduates and it has to be in a major European language. In addition, the Diploma Supplement has to follow the Diploma Supplement model that has been approved by the European Commission, Council of Europe and UNESCO.

Receiving the label is a mark of the transparency and quality of the university’s operations in international cooperation.
