University Management Honoured the Victims of the Acts of Violence in Turku

19.08.2017

The Management of the University of Turku held a moment of silence to commemorate those killed and injured in the attack that took place in Turku on Friday, 18 August.

– We want to express our condolences to all the victims and their families. The events of the weekend have touched people's feelings deeply. However, we cannot let events like these shake our confidence in humanity and in the peaceful development of society. The University has to promote multiculturalism and internationality more strongly than before, says Rector Kalervo Väänänen.

The moment of silence was held during the management's strategy day on Monday, 21 August. On Saturday, the University flew flags at half mast as part of a national commemoration.
