University of Turku among the Best 150 Universities in Europe

The University of Turku was placed as 141st in the Times Higher Education ranking of European universities. Of the Finnish universities, the University of Turku was third after the University of Helsinki and Aalto University.

​Times Higher Education ranked the best 200 universities in Europe. In proportion to its population, Finland succeeded well in the newest ranking with six universities on the list.

Of the Finnish universities, the following made the list: the University of Helsinki (28th position), Aalto University (tied for the 121st position), the University of Turku (tied for the 141st position), the University of Eastern Finland (tied for the 181st position), the University of Jyväskylä (tied for the 181st position) as well as the University of Oulu (191st position).

Altogether 27 Nordic universities are among the best 27 European universities. Sweden had the best success with eleven universities and the Karolinska Institutet was placed as ninth in the ranking. Denmark had six and Norway had four universities in the ranking.

Customarily, the University of Oxford, University of Cambridge and Imperial College London in Britain topped the list.
