A comparison between the Finnish universities reveals that the researchers at the University of Turku produced most peer-reviewed publications in relation to person-years in 2014.

According to Postdoctoral Research Fellow Antti Fredriksson at Turku School of Economics, the University of Turku was the most productive of the Finnish universities in a study that compared the number of A1 level articles published in scientific journals with person-years.

The University of Turku was at the top also in the category that compared the number of all publications in addition to the peer-reviewed ones. The University of Helsinki was second in both categories.

– The difference between the two universities was quite narrow, but the University of Turku's top place, especially in peer-reviewed A1 publications, is an indication that the University invests in high-quality publications, says Fredriksson.

In total, the number of publications increased 0.8 percent in the Finnish universities from the previous year. According to Fredriksson, comparing the number of the publications with the universities' revenue and human resources development, it can be concluded that research is conducted more efficiently than before.
