Biography

I work at the Research Career Unit, in the Faculty of Medicine team. I coordinate the Finnish Doctoral Programme in Oral Sciences (FINDOS-Turku), the Turku Collegium for Science, Medicine and Technology (TCSMT), and the postdoctoral programme, cofunded by the European Commission’s Horizon Europe programme, SYS-LIFE at the Research Career Unit.

Previously, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher on the Yle 100 - Culture project (2022-2024). More information can be found at https://blogs.helsinki.fi/yle-100-tutkimusohjelma/yle-100-research-program/.

I earned my PhD in Cultural History from the University of Turku in 2018. My dissertation analyzed the transformation of Finnish media culture from the 1980s to the 2000s. My research interests include journalism studies, media industry studies, and media history.

At JMC, I was a postdoctoral researcher on the project “Tragediauutisoinnin haasteet – median mahdollisuudet käsitellä kouluampumisia,” which examined the media coverage of the 2018 high school shootings in Parkland, Florida. This project focused on ethical perspectives in journalism and the intermedial relationships between online news and social media activism.

I also have experience in research administration, having worked at the Research Career Unit from 2020 to 2022. During this time, I coordinated the Doctoral Programme in Nursing Science and the Finnish Doctoral Programme in Oral Sciences (FINDOS Turku).
