Biography

I have been a university lecturer (or teacher) at University of Turku since 1997. I studied cell biology in University of Jyväskylä for 1990-1994. For 1994-1997 I made my PhD at the Minerva Research Institute and at Åbo Akademi University (Department of Biology) in professor Kid Törnquists research group 1994-2000 and obtained my PhD from University of Turku in 2000. Since 1997 I have worked at the University of Turku as a teacher and study advisor. I have been interested in  and a member of work groups related to work well being / human resources, educational development, and quality management. During 2017-2019 I have been a deputy head of the Department for educational aspects.


Teaching

I have lectured courses in cell and animal physiology from basics to advanced level. I have also given hands-on training in cell biology, cell culture, animal physiology, and histology. In 2010 I finished my Pedagogical Studies in Higher Education (60 ECTS) and I am a subject teacher in Biology.  I have been a member in several work groups and projects related to development of (web-based) teaching and study guidance.


Research

My research consists mainly studies of G protein –coupled receptors in cell models and endocrine systems. I did my post doc in professor Mika Scheinins lab in Department of Biomedicine university of Turku, and after that I have collaborated with several groups in biomedicine and biology.
