Riku has written his PhD thesis on "Post Acquisition Integration of Strategic Management in an MNC" in 1996. He has worked as a researcher and teacher at Turku School of Economics in 1990-1996. Riku was appointed as Adjunct Professor in "Managing Strategic Change" at Turku School of Economics in 2004. 

Riku has an exceptionally versatile and long standing experience in leadership, management and technology consulting, and international business in several countries, including The Middle East region. Riku has served at the board of a leading international consulting and technology firm focusing on the strategy and the ownership value of the firm for several years. 

He has published numerous scientific articles as well as business books on strategic management, change management, business process re-engineering and outsourcing. Riku lectures on these topics at universities, companies and conferences.
