Answers to frequently asked questions during summer 2026
You are welcome to start your studies at the University of Turku! The orientation programme for new students starts on Monday 24 August. Please see the detailed information on our website. The lectures start right after the orientation week, at the beginning of September. Please, check the detailed information about the courses in the Study Guide.
A lot of important information can be found on the website for new students and from the UTUstart course. If you have questions about scholarship, registration or deferring your studies, please contact admissions@utu.fi.
If you aim to graduate during this academic year (by the end of July), please submit both your major module mark application and your degree certificate application by 31 July. You may exceptionally submit the degree certificate application even if all courses have not yet been recorded in Peppi. However, all courses required for your degree must be evaluated by the time you submit your applications. Your thesis does not need to be recorded in Peppi; approval in the UTUGradu system is sufficient.
The graduation date will be the date of your degree certificate application. Applications submitted during July will be processed in August, and you will also receive your electronic degree certificate in August. This information is for students who have received a University of Turku scholarship or who have paid tuition fees. If you will finish your studies, including submitting your thesis to UTUGradu system, by the end of this academic year (31 July) but will not formally graduate due to thesis being approved at the beginning of autumn semester 2026, you may be eligible to apply for the extra scholarship for graduation. More information on the scholarship as well as the application form is in the intranet. Please note that you still need to apply for graduation by the end of July.
During the summer, the processing of credit transfer applications may take longer than a month. If you aim to graduate by 31 July, please submit both your major module mark application and degree certificate application on time, even if your credit transfer application is still pending.
