Fatima – Master's student in Biomedical Imaging

Meet Fatima Anwar, a current master's student at the University of Turku and an UTUambassador 2025-2026!

"Hi! My name is Fatima, and I am from Pakistan. I am in my second year of the master’s programme in Biomedical Imaging at the University of Turku. I did my bachelor’s in Biomedical Engineering Technology back home, where I realized that imaging was where I wanted to dive deeper.

After my bachelor’s, I had a short research experience in Taiwan, more of a fun adventure than “serious work” but it gave me a glimpse of international research life and showed me how much I enjoy places closer to nature. That little spark eventually brought me to UTU, which I chose for its extraordinary research opportunities and supportive academic atmosphere.

I wouldn’t call myself super extroverted, but I am a good listener and enjoy connecting with people in smaller circles (P.S. still actively trying to be an extrovert). In my free time, I like to cook food that reminds me of home or go on walks with my camera, trying to capture the moments.

What I really love about Turku is how it balances quiet nature with a buzzing student community.

Looking ahead, I hope to contribute to research in biomedical imaging and make invisible processes more visible for better healthcare solutions."
