Guidance for Immigrants on Higher Education

The University of Turku offers advice and guidance to immigrants on higher education and questions of working life related to it. The service is directed to all who need advice and guidance in order to discover a suitable education or career path. Advice is provided by email and in personal meetings.

​At the University of Turku, guidance is provided by Planning Officer Seppo Piiparinen. You can contact him by email at simhe-info@utu.fi. In you first contact, disclose your educational background and interests, for example:

  • earlier studies and what stage they are at (if you have not completed the degree, disclose which study modules you have completed)
  • your degree, language skills
  • how long you have lived in Finland
  • where you have studied or worked in Finland
  • what kind of educational interest you have

The University of Turku is one of the higher education institutions in Finland that participate in SIMHE (Supporting Immigrants in Higher Education in Finland) and offer advice and guidance on higher education to immigrants in Finland.
