Spanish is spoken by about 500 million people on five continents. The Spanish language opens up access to the society and culture of more than twenty countries. Spanish-speaking countries are a popular destination for exchange and internships. The importance of communication in the target language is emphasized in the Spanish-speaking world, where proficiency in English is not self-evident, so there is a greater need for Spanish skills in the labour market.
At the University of Turku, it is possible to start Spanish language studies from scratch or continue from a previous level to continuation, specific language and communication studies. You can complete a study module in Spanish, and in the School of Economics, a minor in Business Spanish.
Spanish language studies focus on the communication skills required in working life as well as knowledge of the culture of the Spanish-speaking world. Diverse communication and interaction skills as well as an understanding of the cultures of the target countries are a key part of the expert's working life skills.
