Excellent subject rank for the Department of Nursing Science by Shanghai Ranking
University of Turku Department of Nursing Science was ranked 35th in the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2021 by Shanghai Ranking. The department has recurrently received an excellent rank being the best in Finland, like this year. Altogether 300 universities were compared in the ranking for nursing.
Persistent work at the department is at the foundation of this good rank, thinks Head of the Department, Professor Helena Leino-Kilpi.
-We have good international networks throughout our research program and doctoral education, and our research is international. First and foremost, we have competent and positive researchers who appreciate different cultures, Leino-Kilpi says.
The rankings measure the performance of world universities in relevant subjects, including research output, research influence, international collaboration, research quality, and international academic awards. Altogether more than 4000 universities were evaluated in 54 subjects across Natural Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, and Social Sciences. The Department of Nursing Science was best-ranked of all subjects of the University of Turku.
