Library services in summer 2026
The library will be open throughout the summer, with some exceptions to opening hours and arrangements due to the relocation of collections. The Feeniks Library will be open on weekdays for the entire summer. Other library units will be closed from Midsummer until early August, but items can still be reserved and collected from the Feeniks Library.
Customer service and opening hours
- The Feeniks Library will be open from 1 June to 30 August on weekdays: Monday 8:00–18:00 and Tuesday–Friday 8:00–16:00. Customer service is available from 9:00 onwards. The Feeniks Library will be closed during Midsummer, 19–21 June. There will be temporary interruptions in the use of facilities and equipment at the Feeniks Library in June. - The Arcanum Library will be closed on 1–3 June and on 19 June–2 August due to the relocation of language materials from the Feeniks Library to the Arcanum Library. Read more about the relocation of the language collections.
- The Pori University Consortium Library will be closed from 19 June to 23 August due to relocation within the building. Read more about the move of the Pori University Consortium Library.
- Other library units will be closed from 19 June to 2 August. In addition, opening hours will be reduced in June and August. Please check the detailed opening hours for each library.
- Normal services will resume on Monday, 31 August.

Library facilities available to students
All library users can use the study spaces at the Feeniks Library throughout the summer during opening hours. However, there will be restrictions on the use of facilities and equipment from 1 June to 12 June. Read more about the relocation of the language collections.
Students and staff of the University of Turku can also use the following library facilities in addition to the Feeniks Library during the summer; these are accessible with an access card in accordance with building access rights:
- K-Lounge at Turku School of Economics Library
- Ground floor study space at the Arcanum Library
- Study space outside the Calonia Library collection facilities
- 24/7 space at the Educarium Library.
Other library facilities will not be available from 19 June to 2 August.
Loan periods, reservations and returns
In summer, loan periods are longer than usual:
- Summer loans for general collections are available from 4 May
- Summer loans for course books are available from 15 May
- The due date for summer loans is 13 August for materials in the Turku and Rauma collections and 7 September for materials in the Pori collections.
Materials available on the shelves at all library units on the Turku campus can be reserved throughout the summer despite closures. However, the availability of language materials will be interrupted in June due to the relocation of collections. Reserved items can be collected from the Feeniks Library after receiving a notification. There may be delays in processing reservations during the summer.
Newspapers and ephemera collections will not be available from 19 June to 2 August and will not be delivered to the Feeniks Library.
If you do not need a storage locker for cultural materials at the Feeniks Library, please empty it before June.
In July, returns can be left in the return box at the Feeniks Library or sent by mail.
Interlibrary loan services
Interlibrary loan services are closed from 19 June to 2 August. Requests submitted after Monday, 15 June will only be processed after 2 August.
Use and acquisition of materials
The library's electronic resources are available to all university members with a UTU account from any location during the summer. You can find e-resources in the Volter database.
- Access to materials will be ensured during the summer. If you notice any problems, please contact library@utu.fi.
- There will be delays in processing material acquisition suggestions in July and August. Department/unit orders will not be processed during July.

Publishing support services
- The Annales services (publishing doctoral dissertations and ISBN services) will be available throughout the summer.
- The commenting service for data management plans (DMPs) for projects funded by the Research Council of Finland is available for two weeks following a positive funding decision.
- Approval of APC fee discounts and publication fee advice for FinELib licenses are available throughout the summer.
