Applying for exemption from Swedish language studies or the degree qualifying exam as a written test

Students can apply for exemption from compulsory Swedish language studies or from the degree qualifying exam as a written test on certain grounds. This is only relevant for Finnish students - more information on exemptions and the grounds under which they may be granted can be found on the page Kielitaidon osoittaminen tutkinnoissa (in Finnish only). 

Exemptions are not granted from any other studies apart from compulsory Swedish language studies and the degree qualifying exam as a written test. 

Note, however, that an exemption is not the same as replacing a course in your degree programme with prior learning. If you have previous studies or prior learning acquired outside the formal education system that you would like to be taken into account in your degree, do not apply for exemption. Instead, you can apply for the recognition of prior learning. For instructions, see the link below:
