Doctor of Science (Technology) Kirsi Liikamaa starts as the Director of the University Consortium of Pori in January. During the fixed-term period of six months, recruitment will be carried out for the permanent position of director of the University Consortium.
Dsc (Tech) Kirsi Liikamaa has been appointed as the Interim Director of the University Consortium for a fixed-term period from 1 January to 30 June 2026. Liikamaa has over 30 years of experience in managerial and executive roles in industry and higher education. She has acted as Director of Pori Unit at Turku School of Economics during 2017–2025 and as Deputy Director of the University Consortium of Pori during 2015–2017.
“The appointment of an interim director ensures that the recruitment process for the permanent position is thorough and guarantees continuity and quality of operations during this period of change. Liikamaa has excellent qualifications for the position, extensive experience, and in-depth knowledge of the University Consortium and regional actors,” says Vice Rector Maija S. Peltola from the University of Turku.
The University of Turku has been coordinating the University Consortium of Pori since the beginning of 2025.
The recruitment process for the permanent position of director is carried out by a committee led by Peltola and including Vice Rector Jarmo Takala from Tampere University, Mayor of Pori Lauri Inna, and Human Resources Director Sanna-Mari Tammilaakso from the University of Turku.
The recruitment process will begin with community and stakeholder consultations, and the call for applications will be published at the beginning of the year.
The current Director of the University Consortium of Pori, Katariina Yrjönkoski, will become Head of Technology and Maritime Studies at Satakunta University of Applied Sciences at the turn of the year.
Turku School of Economics and the Degree Programme in Digital Culture, Landscape and Cultural Heritage of the Faculty of Humanities offer education at Pori. In addition, the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Turku administers the educational health centre at Pori. From Tampere University, the Faculties of Information Technology and Communication Sciences, Management and Business, and Social Sciences have operations at Pori.
