Policy Agenda for Eco-Efficient Maritime Industry in the Baltic Sea Region

18.12.2020

The policy agenda of the ECOPRODIGI project for making the maritime industry more efficient and sustainable through digitalisation is published.

The policy agenda ties together findings from ECOPRODIGI’s industry cases in vessel performance monitoring, cargo stowage, and shipyard processes, as well as the policy briefs that are based on the cases. The agenda features practical recommendations on what policy makers and maritime authorities can do to support and strengthen digitalisation and eco-efficiency of Baltic Sea region’s maritime industry.

A good foundation for making the maritime industry more efficient and sustainable through digitalisation already exists. However, there is significant potential for further development of technology, solutions and applications. Standardisation of several maritime-related things and procedures would promote the utilisation of digital solutions. New digital technology, solutions and standards are essential, but training and education are key factors in getting personnel to adopt new digital solutions.

The Policy Agenda and other ECOPRODIGI outputs are available here: Publications - ECOPRODIGI.

The project is ending at the end of 2020.
