During the year 2019, the University of Turku offers staff and students a free access to TEQMINE Patent Similarity, an easy-to-use online tool for evaluating the commercial potential of one’s research results. All you need to create a free personal user account is to log in with your UTU email credentials. Containing millions of relevant patent publications from around the world, Patent Similarity makes the monitoring of market trends and commercialization around your research topic easier than ever.

What makes TEQMINE Patent Similarity special are its AI-run search and user-friendly interface which enable powerful search based on natural language. You can use the service to e.g. patent search, evaluating your product development idea or innovation idea, and monitoring competitors as well as potential business contacts. Patent Similarity is also a powerful help to chart prior art for your funding application.

AI does the work for you

All you need to do is copy-paste your poster, conference paper, article or other description of your topic in the search field – the service does the rest, retrieving patents similar to its contents within seconds.
 
Create your free personal user account following the four following steps:
1) On the internet, go to https://sim.teqmine.com. 
2) Choose ”Login as an Organization User” option.
3) In the opening field, feed your short UTU user name or your UTU email address in short form. 
4) Click ”Login”.
 
That’s it – your personal account is activated and will stay active until the end of the licence, 31 December, 2019. The use is free and data secure (https protocol).
