University of Turku seeks vice rectors

The University of Turku has opened a call for applications for the positions of the vice rectors. The role of the vice rectors is to support the Rector in the leadership and development of the University of Turku. The call for applications is open until 19 June. 

The University of Turku is seeking vice rectors for a five-year term starting on 1 January 2025. The call for applications for the positions of the vice rectors is open until 19 June 2024, at 16.00 (Europe/Helsinki). 

The vice rectors support the Rector in the leadership and development of the University of Turku. The vice rectors’ duties consist of areas of responsibility in education, research, and societal interaction and impact.
The five-year terms of the current three vice rectors will end at the end of 2024. The University’s new Rector Marjo Kaartinen begins her term on 1 August 2024. Together with the Rector, the vice rectors create the conditions for national and international cooperation in research and education.

“We are seeking persons to the positions of vice rectors who have a strong strategic vision for the development of a multidisciplinary university and have proven experience in high-quality scientific research and academic teaching in the disciplines represented by the University of Turku. Among other things, applicants are expected to have proven experience in successful and efficient leadership," says HR Director Sanna-Mari Tammilaakso.

To be appointed as a vice rector, the applicant is required to hold a doctoral degree and be proficient in Finnish and English.
