Biography

I'm currently a researcher at the Department of Computing in the Phonetics and Learning, Age & Bilingualism laboratory research group. I'm also working as a project researcher in the Department of Teacher Education in the University of Turku.

I defended my doctoral dissertation (phonetics) on October 29th 2021 at the University of Turku.

Teaching

Taught courses since 2014: Speech Production and Perception, Children's Second Language Learning, Phonology, Introduction to General Linguistics

Research

My doctoral dissertation focuses on children's second language sound learning. In the four articles included in the dissertation, I examine the effects of different factors (age, learning environment, phonetic training methods) on school-aged children's second language sound perception and production learning.

As a member of the Phonetics and Learning, Age & Bilingualism laboratory research group, my current research focuses on Namibian languages and the phonetic learning of English in the Namibian context.
